The river

Quem escuta ou lê Guruji Iyengar, sabe que o exemplo do rio e das duas margens do rio, é muitas vezes usado nas suas explicações. Aqui vai uma vez mais e de forma bem clara:
"The river has two banks. Similarly, the body has two banks. If one bank of the body is the skin, the other bank is the intelligence of the self.
This river of energy has to flow touching the intelligence of the self and the inner surface of the skin evenly. This process of thinking and observing made me do the asana  in such a way that my intelligence began to move closer to the frontier of the body touching the back, the sides and the four corners of the torso including the legs and arms as well as the self. This way i began connecting the intelligence to the four corners of the entire human body in all asana to see whether i could fill the body with the consciousness and the self in the length and width of the body. ... This vertical growth of intellect of the head along with the horizontal intelligence of the heart made me trace the middle line throughout my body from the centre of the head to the centre of the trunk, the two feet and arms. This brought me to understand what total awareness means." (Astadala Yogamala, vol. 8)
